Convolution and Addition Theorems for Q-orthogonal Polynomials

A short review of the use of quantum groups to addition theorems for q-special functions is given. We discuss a general convolution formula for Al-Salam and Chihara polynomials arising from its quantum algebra as transition coeecients. This contribution does not contain new results.

Statistics 612: Superefficiency, Contiguity, LAN, Regularity, Convolution Theorems

(ii) For any sequence of sets {Bn} with Bn ∈ An, whenever Pn(Bn) converges to 0, then EPn (| Xn | 1Bn) converges to 0. The following theorem illustrates the usefulness of uniform integrability; uniform integrability in conjunction with convergence in distribution implies convergence of moments. Theorem 1.1 Suppose that Xn ∈ Lr(P ) with 0 < r < ∞ and Xn →p X. Then, the following are equivalent. ...

On non-stationary convolution and inverse convolution

Recursive inverse filtering with non-stationary filters is becoming a useful tool in a range of applications, from multi-dimensional inverse problems to wave extrapolation. I formulate causal non-stationary convolution and combination and their adjoints in such a way that it is apparent that the corresponding non-stationary recursive filters are true inverse processes. Stationary recursive inve...

On the middle convolution

In [9], a purely algebraic analogon of Katz’ middle convolution functor (see [12]) is given. It is denoted by MCλ. In this paper, we present a cohomological interpretation of MCλ and find an explicit RiemannHilbert correspondence for this functor. This leads to an algorithm for the construction of Fuchsian systems corresponding to irreducible rigid local systems under the Riemann-Hilbert corres...

On Shapiro’s Catalan Convolution

L. Shapiro found an elegant formula for the self-convolution of the even subscrtipted terms in the Catalan sequence. This paper provides a natural q-analog of Shapiro’s formula together with three proofs, one of which is purely combinatorial.
